Our Patient Link Group (PLG) holds regular meetings; usually every 6-8 weeks at the Health Centre. The group is made up of regular Patients, which give the Health Centre a Patient's Voice. The PLG is in the invaluable position of being able to put forward ideas and questions to the Health Centre staff from the patient's angle. Our Patient Link Group (PLG) is currently made up of 7 patients and 2 members of surgery staff who are Dr John Simmons and Bea Simmons.
The patients are:
Mrs Lynn Bowman (Chair)
Mrs Jo Angear
Mrs Sue Barrell
Mrs Devan Briggs
Mrs Sheila Charlton
Mr Leslie Green
Mrs Jo Halfhide
Mrs Janet McInnes
Mrs Hilary Robinson
Mrs Helen Walsh
Mrs Andrea Wharam
Health Centre representatives:
Bea Simmons email@example.com
Mel Ingham firstname.lastname@example.org
To become one of us, or if you have any questions/suggestions at all about the group please feel free to email or phone Lynn or Bea. Or it is simple matter to join using the on-line form.
We promote the PLG in the new patient handout and on the website.
In our area we do not have a large ethnic community (2% of list), so those attending the group are representative of the demographic and age group of the village and surrounding area.
The current priority of the group is rebranding and increasing our membership. The vision and direction of the group will then be far more representative of all patients.
Previously the PLG had a lot of influence over designing the new surgery and has raised fund to buy patient focus equipment for it. But now we have moved forward and the group is about far more than just fund raising (although this can be as small or as big as individuals wish).
There is a comments book in the waiting room asking patients to comment on what services they would like to see in the new surgery as well as provide insight on their experiences to date.
These patient comments have been transcribed and discussed at the PLG meetings in detail; some have been incorporated into the patient questionnaire that has been produced, and alot have influenced the services that have been or will be introduced into the new surgery, including those provided by third party experts.
